The South Gate , namely the Yongningmen implying the wish for the everlasting stability, was established in 582 AD, Kaihuang 2 nd year of Sui Dynasty, thus making it the oldest and the most long-standing among the gates of the ancient city wall in Xi'an . The city of Xi'an as Chang'an during Tang Dynasty remained the world center of economy, culture and trade. The ceremony for welcoming guests to enter the city in the ancient style is based on the ancient courtesy towards guests and the whole grand ceremony is in accordance with the etiquette accepted during the flourishing period of Tang Dynasty. Now it is regarded undoubtedly as the greatest within China for the unique combination of both traditional and modern culture.

　　The North Gate, that is the Anyuanmen indicating the aspiration to make vassal states on the north acknowledge the allegiance to the central government, was also used to receive and see off guests and it was called the first gate all over China during Tang Dynasty. The ceremony of nowadays is modeled after the most classic part of the welcome ceremony in the style of Tang Dynasty . It is made up of five steps, namely Ying (welcome), Bai (pay respects), Ci (bestow), Yan (entertain), Song (send-off). Such inheritance comprehensively illustrates not only the essence of the Tang-Dynasty-style etiquette but also the broadness and profoundness of the Chinese culture. Great culture brings wonders and furthermore, it makes visitors' dream of passing through time and space come true by bringing their soul back to the ancient city of Chang'an .
